A test

of life.

Monday, October 17, 2005

If you had to make Sunday night less of a drag, you would...

a) watch a movie
b) play pool
3) make such lists
d) make such lists but with the right numbering
e) hit yourself with a wooden stick
f) eat till you pass out ...and then go for e) when you do wake up
g) let your imagination run wild while you stay asleep in bed
h) smoke till you choke
i) have fantastic dreams about Monday being misspelt as Sunday the world over
j) discover that you're a dyslexic insomniacal atheist by staying awake all night wondering if there is a dog

Don't call me. I'll call you.

Back.

This is the Block 75 blog.

Question: How much time do you get to spend at Block 75?
Answer: I just talked to two kids who live there. One's just riding home on his motorbike, having not yet finished work at 8:48 pm. Another is still in a meeting at work. I wonder how many others are at home right now.

Well, work...

My life is not too different, I guess. VERY different. I wake up just before six. Am on a bus by half past. And on a boat by quarter past. Somebody died at work the other night. Sprayed himself to death with acid. Unintentionally, of course. Books say there is a greater chance of saying hello to death on an airplane. Wonder who serves acid on an airplane though.

Yeah, work is good. Thank God. Or, I would not wake up before six. And so on.

I am home early. Usually by seven. Earlier sometimes. I live with two kids. One works somewhere near Malaysia. The other is in Malaysia even as I write this. Maurie cleans here too. We have a cool DVD.

It's been two months. And two days.

Question: Have I settled in?
Answer: Too fast.

I am beginning to get bored. Sometimes. They've approved my PR application. Of course, work numbs the mind so much, on other days it does not realise that it is actually bored. They rejected my credit card application. Live here. Earn your credit.

I've signed up for Spanish. Twice a week, one cool language. Julie is learning Spanish too. Won't hurt. Guess what an NUS degree can get you. Hundred bucks off on a Spanish course at NUS. Cool. Won't hurt.

iPod Nano. Cool. The screen scratches easily. Not for Windows scum. Like me.

Musharraf accepts Delhi's offer to send troops across the Line of Control. So, now we know. OFFER, don't THREATEN.

Bachelor life. Busrides. Big bills. Badminton. Books. Businessweek. Broadband. Bitching... BACK.

Something's missing. 2,379 kms. By air. 3 hrs 25 mins. Or, a phone call everyday. Or, a plane ride in two weeks. Hopefully.

1. Pick up diving. At least one of you.
2. Come home early. At least once a week.
3. Meet me for dinner. At least once in a while.
4. Play badminton.
5. Visit.

6. Blog.

SEPL-MFBO/131. (Or, that's what's left of me. Sometimes.)

Deutsche Post

I'm at the Motorola office at Taunusstein near Wiesbaden, where I have been living since the 17th of last month. Came here on a 10-day trip, and my return has twice been delayed already. Now, I'm scheduled to be back in Singapore on Sunday; but there's enough time for that to change.

This is not a bad place to be in at all. Beautiful place in fact. Been guzzling down the 'bier' and hogging on all the 'wursts' and stuff. Done some sight-seeing. Made some short trips to Frankfurt and Mainz as well. It's just that it's a pretty small, quiet place (where everyone speaks in German) and I don't know anyone here. So after the first few days or so, it's been a little boring/dull/lonely at times.

Hope that I have more work during the rest of the week. Hardly had anything to do yesterday and today. Which explains this.

Dragonslayer is coming back!

Soon.

August 10, actually.

To a private apartment not so near you. To slay dragons all over again.

Watch this space.

God, am I hideous?!
